Moris Tepper is well known for his work with such legendary luminaries as P.J. Harvey, Tom Waits, Frank Black, Captain Beefheart and more. Moris' innate gift as a songwriter/composer is his ability to forge a new soundvision for each project; from modern hi-tech soundscapes to authentic reproduction of styles from any era. His songs are used in primetime television; most recent credits include MTV's "Rob and Big",the G4 channel promo spots, NBC's "Scrubs" (multiple episodes), IFC's "The Minor Accomplishments Of Jackie Woodman" (theme song and full scores for its complete two season run), UPN's animated series "The Mouse and the Monster" (theme song and full scores for all 13 episodes), scoring for "Army Wives" on the Lifetime Network, and Fox TV's "Bakersfield P.D.".
His music stands out not only for its use of contemporary technology, but also for its unique arrangements and exotic instrumentation. These combined talents as well as his resources have become Moris' strength as a composer for film, television and commercial media. Two seasons of "The Minor Accomplishments Of Jackie Woodman" relied on his experience as a highly acclaimed rock n' roll guitarist to create a uniquely appropriate score, also utilizing Moris' original songs in many featured scenes as well as for the shows open and closing theme. When he was asked to compose scores and a theme song for UPN's edgy animated series "The Mouse And The Monster", he replied by beautifully "bending" a vast array of musical styles to create an imaginative library using live, eclectic ensembles to achieve a fresh, distinctive sound. "The Mouse and The Moster had a stylistic edge. In my mind there was only one person who could create the right music for the show." Jerry Liebowitz - Creator/Executive Producer, UPN "Many individuals and scoring houses often accept more work than they can personally handle and in essence become brokers. Too much scoring is jobbed out, hence the predominence of generic music in this industry. When great efforts are being made to produce television and film projects that are distinctive, why drop the ball when it comes to the score? The recent focus and accolades for independent filmmaking is strong evidence that original ideas and personal vision make for inspired entertainment. The same can be said for the uniquely creative composer/producer who gives their all to a project, adding a vital, inspired musical score to the end product. That's what I do." |
